Dental Crown

An artificial dental crown is a fixed prosthesis that externally covers our tooth. It is as if it were a natural dental crown but which is actually made with a different material from our tooth but resembles it in shape and color to replace it in case of need.

Dental crowns are caps placed over damaged teeth. Crowns are used to protect, cover and restore the shape of teeth when fillings do not solve the problem. Dental crowns can be made from metal, porcelain, resin, and ceramic. They generally do not require special care over time other than regular good oral hygiene.

What kind of material are dental crowns made of?

Metal-porcelan crowns

Total Mouth
Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns are another widely used type of dental crown. They provide both resistance (thanks to their metal structure) and aesthetics (thanks to the porcelain coating that covers the cap).

Zirconia crowns

Dental bridge implant
Zirconia crowns are restorations that cover the outer portion of a tooth down to the gumline level. They can be used to simply restore a damaged tooth or can be layered with porcelain to blend seamlessly with nearby natural teeth. Like porcelain crowns, zirconia crowns are indicated in situations where decay has destroyed most of the original tooth or a large portion of the tooth has fractured due to trauma. The main benefit can be seen in people with severe tooth wear from acid erosion or from teeth grinding or clenching.

E-Max Crown

Teeth Replacement
The E-Max chainring is the newest and most expensive type of chainring. It is preferred over zirconia crowns because it is stronger and more durable. It is less prone to chipping than zirconium crowns. E-MAX crowns are made from lithium desilicate ceramic, a material that was harvested for its translucent color and durability. As a result, you get a crown that is strong and durable, yet looks exactly like your other teeth. The only downside to E-MAX chainrings is the cost. E-MAX chainrings are the best out there, so it's worth the extra money.

ADVANTAGES of Corona E-Max

  • Great aesthetics. They look great in the mouth.
  • They can be durable and very strong.
  • They provide a great choice for both anterior and posterior teeth.

ADVANTAGES of Zircon Crown

  • They provide great aesthetics
  • They are durable and long lasting (less chance of chipping or breaking).
  • The process can take less time because the zirconia can be cut and shaped in the same dental office. It is not necessary to send them to a dental laboratory.
  • Zirconia crowns are less likely to wear out due to their strength.

ADVANTAGES of Porcelan Crown

  • They provide great aesthetics and durability
  • They have been around for over 50 years. We know they work well.
  • They are less expensive than all porcelain crowns
